This remains true for students from both rural and urban areas. This urge had been with the majority of people at Ariyalur during 1965.

This paved the way for the initiation of the construction of the institution. The college is situated in the Most-Backward and rural area in the Ariyalur District of Tamil Nadu. It is the only Government College in this District and is affiliated to the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. It is offering higher education to the SC, ST and Most Backward community students in this area. Although the College is situated in an Educationally Backward district and many of our students are first generation graduates, they have performed excellently in the University exams and have constantly secured University ranks every year.
